Live resin is a cannabis concentrate made from plants that are frozen as soon as they are harvested, instead of being dried and cured first. Freezing keeps more of the plant’s terpenes, the compounds behind its smell and taste. That is the main difference from concentrates made from dried plant material.
How it differs from shatter and distillate
Shatter is made from dried plant material and sets into a hard, glassy sheet. Distillate is refined until almost everything but the cannabinoid is removed, and flavour is often added back afterwards. Live resin keeps the plant’s own terpene profile, so it usually has a softer, saucier texture and a stronger smell.
Reading the label
Every product lists its THC content and the strain it was made from. The label is the place to compare one product with another. Ask at the counter if you’d like help reading it.
